DDA-EskyEscanaba is a great place to do business.
The Downtown Development Authority works closely with business owners to maximize their investment in their buildings with our Facade Improvement Program. The DDA also looks to enhance opportunities for mixed-use buildings, taking advantage of programs like the MSHDA’s Rental Rehab. Downtown Escanaba is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and Escanaba is the only Upper Peninsula city to be accepted into the MEDC’s Redevelopment Ready Communities program.

The downtown district is poised for growth and additional development. We enjoy a climate that includes all four season’s. Escanaba and the DDA are working to preserve and revitalize historic downtown to provide opportunities for those seeking a healthy, beautiful and economically sound district for starting or expanding a business.

The combination of our natural beauty, vibrant arts community and expansive downtown district offer an attractive area for working and living.

Escanaba Adventure / Video

Tom heads north for our “Escanaba In The Sunlight” adventure … But, you know us … after about an hour in the car, we get hungry and discover a place near Saginaw that’s so rustic and real … it’s right up our alley. After finally crossing the mighty Mackinac, we make our way west to Escanaba for an experience you won’t soon forget..It’s all right here in Michigan’s incredible UP.

DDA Mission Statement:

“To create and execute development plans that encourage economic growth, promote the identity of downtown, provide physical improvements that enhance the quality of life for both residents and visitors. To preserve and revitalize important buildings through tax increment revenues, establishing a downtown that is healthy, viable, economically sound and prepared for the future.”
