The Downtown Development Authority works closely with business owners to maximize their investment in their buildings with our Facade Improvement Program. The DDA also looks to enhance opportunities for mixed-use buildings, taking advantage of programs like the MSHDA’s Rental Rehab. Downtown Escanaba is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and Escanaba is the only Upper Peninsula city to be recognized as a Certified Redevelopment Ready Community into the MEDC’s Redevelopment Ready Communities program.
The downtown district is poised for growth and additional development. We enjoy a climate that includes all four season’s. Escanaba and the DDA are working to preserve and revitalize historic downtown to provide opportunities for those seeking a healthy, beautiful and economically sound district for starting or expanding a business.

After finally crossing the mighty Mackinac, we make our way west to Escanaba for an experience you won’t soon forget..It’s all right here in Michigan’s incredible UP.
